The papers in this series provide a detailed statistical "net assessment" of Middle Eastern military efforts and forces. They combine data on the trends in defense efforts, spending, procurement and RDT&E, manpower, and land, air, naval and the proliferation of long-range missiles and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons. They have been developed in cooperation with the Bureau of Arms Control in the US State Department.
