Five years ago, CSIS hosted a speech by former-Commissioner of the U.S. Customs Service Robert Bonner in which he outlined a bold plan for improving the security of international trade through a Container Security Initiative and other measures that would establish a "global green lane" for safe commerce.
To reflect on where we have come since then, and to look ahead to the future of trade security, the CSIS Homeland Security Program and Americas Program presented a half-day conference featuring expert perspectives from around the world for a comprehensive look at the ongoing quest to realize this vital international security imperative.
