Jonathan Davidson is senior adviser for political and academic affairs at the European Commission Delegation in Washington, D.C. He served in the British Diplomatic Service from 1963 to 1981, in the United Kingdom, India, Thailand, Senegal, and the United States. At the British embassy in Washington, he was responsible for congressional liaison and served as head of information and press relations. He was director of the Washington office of the University of South Carolina from 1981 to 1991, serving also as special assistant for international programs to the university’s president and as visiting professor. He is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University and the American University. Mr. Davidson holds an M.A. in history from Cambridge University.
