Dong-bok (D.B.) Lee is a retired member of the Korean National Assembly where he served on the Unification and Foreign Affairs Committee and the National Defense Committee and was a member of the United Liberal Democrats (ULD) Executive Council. Lee began his career as a political reporter for the Korea Daily News (1958-1971) and became one of the pioneers in improving North-South Korean relations while serving in key positions in the South Korean government such as director general of the North-South Dialogue Committee and National Unification Board (precursors to the Ministry of Unification). Lee also served as special assistant to the director of the National Intelligence Service and to the prime minister. Prior to his membership in the National Assembly, he was executive vice president of Samsung Aerospace Industries and a senior visiting fellow at CSIS. Lee, a graduate of Seoul National University, is a frequent contributor to the Korean media on North Korea policy and unification issues.
