Thomas O. Hicks is chairman and chief executive officer of Hicks Holdings, LLC, a private firm that owns a number of private companies and professional sports teams and engages in real estate development. He was formerly chairman of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Incorporated, a global private investment firm formed in 1989 specializing in leveraged acquisitions. Since its formation, Hicks Muse successfully raised over $12 billion of private equity funds, consummated over $50 billion of leveraged acquisitions, and was one of the most active private investment firms in the country. He serves on the board of Crow Family Holdings. He is also chairman of the board and owner of the Dallas Stars Hockey Club, a National Hockey League member, as well as the chairman and owner of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club, an American League Baseball member. He serves on the board of MLB Advanced Media, the internet-based subsidiary of Major League Baseball, and he serves as chairman and CEO of Southwest Sports Group, LLC (SSG), the Dallas-based sports and entertainment company that owns the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Stars, the Mesquite Championship Rodeo and is co-owner of the American Airlines Center. In addition, he owns Southwest Sports Realty Partners, a company focused on developing land adjacent to the venues in which SSG’s teams play. Mr. Hicks is a former member of the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System and formerly served as chairman of the University of Texas Investment Management Company. He received an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1970 and a B.B.A. from the University of Texas in 1968. |
