Ana Villavicencio is program officer at Pacific Forum CSIS. She did a double major in environmental studies and international relations at Hawaii Pacific University and received an M.A. in political science with a focus on international relations from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her master’s thesis was entitled “Participatory Development in the Third World: How Can the International and Third World Communities Work Together in Development Efforts?” Her background also includes international work in Africa and Europe. She participated in organizing a workshop on energy projects to help alleviate poverty in Africa at the UNEP–Risø Center in Denmark in 2004 and completed an internship working with projects involving sustainable energy in Mali. She became an East West Center alumnus after joining the East West Center Education Department as a student affiliate in 2004.
