Yuko Nakano is a research associate in the Office of the Japan Chair, where she works on issues related to U.S.-Japan relations and Asian security affairs. Until the fall of 2005, she worked in the Office of the Director of Studies, where she assisted the senior vice president and the director of studies with projects on Asian security as well as managed the U.S.-Japan Strategic Dialogue between legislatures from those two countries. Prior to joining CSIS, she was an adjunct associate producer with the NHK-Japan Broadcasting Corporation’s Washington, D.C., bureau. She worked on the production of documentary programs on U.S. foreign and defense policies. She attended Department of Defense daily briefings and covered the first months of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Ms. Nakano has extensive international experience, including fieldwork in Macedonia and Kosovo with an NGO in the summer of 1999; during this time, she served as a regional community service coordinator and was responsible for a peace building project. Ms. Nakano holds a B.A. in law from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, and an M.A. in international relations and international economics with a concentration in strategic studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). |
