Joseph E. Robert

Joseph E. Robert is founder, chairman, and CEO of the J.E. Robert Companies (JER) and CEO and chairman of the board of JRT. He is responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the firms and for developing and managing key relationships for deal origination and capital sourcing. Over the past several years, he has been actively involved in expanding JER’s business internationally, especially in Europe, Russia, and Latin America. Mr. Robert is a member of the JER Fund Investment Committee and the JRT Investment Committee. In 1990, Mr. Robert founded Fight For Children, which strives to create a brighter future for children by helping them access education, healthcare, and mentoring opportunities. This Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit organization has raised more than $105 million through contributions, matching grants, and public policy initiatives to support over 140 youth-serving organizations in the metropolitan region. Mr. Robert has served as vice chairman of the board of the National Realty Committee, was a member of its Executive Committee, and is a founding member of the Real Estate Roundtable. He is also chairman of the Washington Scholarship Fund and serves on the Board of Directors of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, the National Board of Advisors of the Children’s Scholarship Fund, and the Policy Advisory Board of the Fisher Center of Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California. Mr. Robert is a member of the following organizations: World Economic Forum, Horatio Alger Association, Trilateral Commission, World Presidents’ Organization, Chief Executive Organization, Council on Foreign Relations, Alfalfa Club, Foreign Policy Association, Business Executives for National Security, Economic Club of Washington, D.C., Urban Land Institute, Bretton Woods Committee, Greater Washington Board of Trade, and the Federal City Council.
