Congress won't vote on any more free trade agreements until the federal government expands assistance to U.S. workers who lose their jobs due to imports. Meanwhile, both Democratic candidates for president oppose the three trade deals awaiting action by Congress and want to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which lowered trade barriers among the U.S., Canada and Mexico in 1994.
