WASHINGTON, December 11, 2007 – The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Russia and Eurasia Program will release their new report, “Alternative Futures for Russia to 2017,” and hold a roundtable discussion Thursday, December 13 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the CSIS B1 Conference Center (1800 K Street, NW).
The roundtable will feature report author Andrew Kuchins, CSIS Russia Eurasia program director as well as key contributors Anders Aslund, senior fellow with the Petersen Institute for Economics; Thomas Graham, Senior Director at Kissinger McClarty Associates; Sarah Mendelson, CSIS Russia Eurasia Program Senior Fellow; and Cory Welt, Associate Director of the Eurasia Strategy Project at Georgetown University.
The report traces a mosaic of possible Russian futures in light of the extraordinary changes the country has undergone in the last decade. In particular, the report examines drivers for the future, political scenarios, and key signposts for scenario trends.
