Transatlantic Energy Forum
In response to growing concerns about rising energy prices, the effects of global warming, and the national security implications of dependence on foreign enegy sources, the  Europe Program and the Energy and National Security Program at CSIS launched the the Transatlantic Energy Forum (TEF) in the spring of 2008. The (TEF) seeks to provide a stage for U.S. and European energy, security, and international relations experts to exchange ideas and put forth recommendations for increased U.S.-European energy cooperation.

In its first phase, the initiative will examine the geopolitics of energy, the approaches to transitioning the U.S. and European energy systems to lower carbon emitting fuels while ensuring national energy security, and the search for possible alternative fuel sources.
These topics will be addressed during a two-day conference in Paris to be held May 16-17, 2008.
