This publication is the final SGP newsletter covering the efforts of the G-8 Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction to reduce the dangers posed by nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. This issue features an article by Rüdiger Lüdeking, Deputy Commissioner for Arms Control and Disarmament of the Federal Republic of Germany, examining Germany's experience chairing the G-8 in 2007 and reviewing the work of the Global Partnership thus far. Also included is a preview of Japan's 2008 G-8 presidency, written by the Arms Control and Disarmament Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an overview of Tokyo's approach toward the Global Partnership. A contribution from Mary Beth Nikitin, a former fellow in the International Security Program at CSIS, analyzes the status of the US-Russian agreement to dispose of 34 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium. Finally, this issue chronicles new developments from the past year of Global Partnership activities.
