Today there are nine Mexican children for every Mexican elder—but by 2050, there will be as many elders as children. Building Human Capital in an Aging Mexico, a joint report of the Global Aging Initiative and Mexico Project, explores how Mexico’s looming demographic transformation will reshape its economy and society. It focuses on the labor market and human capital formation implications of the aging of Mexico’s population. Along the way, it identifies potential demographic and economic synergies between Mexico and the United States that could be leveraged for the benefit of both nations.
