The CSIS Global Strategy Institute's executive education initiative draws on the team of CSIS experts to connect them with outside leadership groups—from government, business, and academia. The goal is to explore the future over the present, the far over the near, the unfamiliar over the familiar, the interconnected over the segmented. It is an ambitious effort to challenge leaders from diverse disciplines to think outside their areas of responsibility and specialty. The demand for such programs—especially those that skillfully combine traditional classroom learning with experiential learning—is high for a number of important reasons: * The many urgent issues relevant to U.S. international engagement in the post-9/11 period, including the security environment and the changing political risk spectrum; * The complex forces at work in many key countries (China, Russia, India, and Brazil, among others) and regions around the world; * The many uncertainties associated with the global economy; and * The need for greater understanding of the dynamics of the U.S. government and the formulation and implementation of U.S. national security strategies and foreign policies. The Global Strategy Institute, building on the distinguished group of experts across CSIS, has developed differentiated programs to meet the specific needs and requirements of six key classes of user: Corporations Meeting the complex requirements of business planning in the current global environment is a key feature of the GSI executive education initiative. Trade Associations Our links with specific sectors enables GSI to zoom in on issues of particular interest and relevance to industry groups. Membership Groups GSI is proud of its growing interaction with prominent individual membership groups, such as the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and the Society of International Business Fellows (SIBF). Colleges and Universities Coast to coast, GSI has built a track record of cooperation with a number of colleges and universities from the United States and abroad. Programs have been developed with Penn State University Schreyer Honors College, the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech, and the George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University. Foreign Delegations CSIS is a crossroads for visiting delegations from around the world and therefore is a logical venue for interaction based on executive education programs. U.S. Government Building on its longstanding cooperation with the executive and congressional branches of the U.S. government, CSIS has placed a high priority on building this new executive education initiative with key actors across the American policymaking framework. |
