International Security Program

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) International Security Program (ISP) enjoys a long and proud tradition. Founded by Admiral Arleigh Burke almost four decades ago, the program has been a mainstay of CSIS since its inception. Under the direction of Dr. Stephen Flanagan, senior vice president of CSIS, the International Security Program boasts a staff of over 60 in-house scholars and researchers, taking on one of the most robust and ambitious research agendas in the field. Building upon a solid foundation of conventional political-military issues, ISP is likewise committed to addressing a growing range of non-military aspects defining U.S. foreign and security policy.
