U.S. Defense and National Security

About:

The U.S. Defense and National Security team provides bipartisan analysis and solutions for policymakers and practitioners charged with the country’s most essential responsibilities.  We focus on the institutions, processes, and policies that keep America safe, strong, and respected as a global leader.

Projects:

Project Iceberg examines the less obvious, but pressing defense issues that the next President and Secretary of Defense must understand and address—or risk Titanic-like repercussions for the nation.

A major study over a four-year period, the BG-N project makes recommendations for adapting the U.S. national security structure to meet the challenges of a new strategic era.

DIIG conducts research and analysis on the health of the defense industry and provides assessments of related policy questions.

This project is a comprehensive study of the changed and changing role of America's National Guard and Reserve Forces.

Each year we host one nominated fellow from each of the Services of the U.S. military, and also a representative from the Korean and Taiwanese militaries.

CSIS hosts a series of senior military and civilian leaders from across the Department of Defense to present their unique insights and vision on the direction of U.S. national security and defense policy.

Publications The CSIS Defense and National Security Team produces a wealth of reports, commentary, and events that probe today's most important policy issues.
