With MacArthur Foundation support, the bipartisan Proliferation Prevention Forum was established at CSIS to help provide members of Congress and their staffs with the best information available on America’s number one security priority. Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Gordon Smith (R-OR) and Representatives Howard Berman (D-CA) and Mac Thornberry (R-TX) are the honorary co-chairs of the Forum.
The Forum aims to both educate members of Congress and staff on issues of arms control and nonproliferation and to develop a strong, bipartisan base of knowledge and support for future Nunn-Lugar type initiatives. Through diverse outreach strategies, the Forum will serve to increase commitment to nonproliferation across the political spectrum, and help Congressional leaders address nonproliferation issues in the context of national security policy. Robert Einhorn leads the forum.
