Innovative Efforts to Combat HIV/Aids

CSIS and the Kaiser Family Foundation hosted Dr. Shannon Hader, head of the District of Columbia's HIV/AIDS Administration. She discussed the District's HIV/AIDS epidemic, which has the highest rates in the country. Dr. Hader talked about the District's response to the epidemic, applying international lessons to the domestic problem, leading the nation in routine testing, and diverse prevention strategies. She also shared her experience at the CDC, with the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and lessons that can be applied to Washington and the country.
