After the communist North Korean government launches an attack across the 38th Parallel on the South, Truman worries that the war will spread beyond Korea. On June 27, 1950, he sends the Seventh Fleet to the Taiwan Strait to prevent a mainland attack on Taiwan and ROC attack on the mainland. He also calls on the KMT to cease military operations against the mainland.
