After a growing movement in the UN, the United States endorses the admission of the PRC into the UN in July 1971 under a "two Chinas" policy that would preserve ROC membership. On October 25, 1971, however, the UN General Assembly passes Resolution 2758 recognizing the PRC as the lawful representative of China, expelling the ROC from the organization.
