The CSIS Energy Program Announces New Name
Dear Colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the CSIS Energy and National Security Program is changing our name to the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program.
As of today, this new name will be reflected on our website, in our mailings, and on social media. This rebranding comes as we embark on several big new initiatives that will allow us to continue to provide forward-looking insights and policy solutions on the future of energy security and the path forward to an accelerated energy transition, as well as to spearhead new center-wide work on the future of climate change and foreign policy.
Over the last 40 years, the CSIS Energy and National Security Program has stood at the forefront of the energy policy community, providing thoughtful guidance and timely analysis on the most important issues facing the intersection of energy and national security. Each year, we strive to meet the expectations set for us by our wide network of influential experts and the thoughtful, engaged audience that has come to characterize our public engagement.
As we reflect on the years ahead and the unprecedented energy transformations taking place around the world, we recognize our work has evolved—and will continue to evolve—to consider the new opportunities and vulnerabilities that this changing landscape provides. Traditional notions of energy security have become more complex with the advent of new technologies, new patterns of trade, ever more data availability, and an evolving resource mix. At the same time, the global imperative to address the unmistakable link between the energy sector and climate change has become a central issue for policymakers, investors, civil society, and the private sector seeking to make progress toward a more sustainable energy system.
By changing our name to the Energy Security and Climate Change Program, we hope to better reflect the body of work we have underway and the priorities that we see driving the future of the energy sector. We will continue to provide the fact-based, non-partisan strategic insights that you have come to expect from us. It is an exciting time for all of us here; please stay tuned for more announcements about our upcoming programs and initiatives. We look forward to working with you to make important contributions to shape our shared energy future.
Best,
Sarah Ladislaw
