We hope you are enjoying the spring. We are happy to share with you the latest edition of the Freeman Chair's newsletter. The Freeman Chair China Report provides updates on our recent activities, research, publications, and media engagement. Among the news: In January, Deputy Director Scott Kennedy testified before Congress on “Evaluating CFIUS: Challenges Posted by a Changing Global Economy”, and contributed to the CSIS Report on “Meeting the China Challenge: Responding to China’s Managed Economy”. In February, the Freeman Chair hosted a public event on China’s innovation policy for new-generation cars. Following China's annual legislative session, the Freeman Chair covered a public readout event on March 15 and hosted Mayor of Kaohsiung Taiwan Chen Chu for a public speech at CSIS. The newsletter also highlights an essay by Scott Kennedy on U.S.-China trade tensions.
