Issue 21, December 2017

Dear Friends:

We wish you a joyful holiday season and are happy to share with you the latest edition of the newsletter for the CSIS Freeman Chair in China Studies. The Freeman Chair China Report provides updates on our recent activities, research, publications, and media engagement. Among the news: In mid-September, deputy director Scott Kennedy published a new book on China’s role in global governance, Global Governance and China: The Dragon’s Learning Curve. In mid-October, the Freeman Chair covered the 19th Party Congress in the form of commentary on Leading Small Groups, a Critical Questions piece on Xi’s political work report, and a public readout event following the Congress. The newsletter also highlights an essay by Scott Kennedy on the prospects of a trade war between the United States and China.
