Feature Essay: Sino-Indian Engagement and The Stability Of Asia

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is slated to visit India from April 9 to 12, marking another important milestone in the long effort by both sides to normalize their relations. As one of the fastest growing regions of the world, Asia looks toward its leading powers, China, Japan and India to promote stability and prosperity in the region, in conjunction with other major powers including the United States, Europe and Russia. Since Japan is closely aligned with the United States and also because of historical reasons, the independent foreign policies pursued by India and China make this meeting of particular interest for the future of Asia.
