WASHINGTON, August 30, 2022: CSIS president and CEO John J. Hamre today released the following statement on the passing of Dr. Kazuo Inamori:
"Dr. Kazuo Inamori was a visionary businessman and social leader in Japan, contributing directly to the remarkable renaissance of Japan in the second half of the twentieth century. He also was a treasured friend to CSIS, creating the Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy, which is the foundation of our executive education work. Dr. Inamori saw the boundless potential of the human mind, awakened to opportunities and responsibilities. He made an enduring tribute to humanity through the establishment of the Kyoto Prize, which ranks as a world-class celebration of human creativity and potential. We mourn his passing, but we celebrate a remarkably bountiful and constructive life."
