Methane Reductions in Oil and Gas, Agriculture, and Waste

Audio Brief

A short, spoken-word summary from CSIS’s Allegra Dawes on her report with Ben Cahill, Mathias Zacarias, and Sophie Coste, Methane Reductions in Oil and Gas, Agriculture, and Waste.

Audio file

Methane challenges vary between the oil and gas, agriculture, and waste industries, but there are common problems. Experience in the oil and gas industry suggests that investor and public pressure on agriculture and landfills will grow, especially if the hydrocarbon sector begins to make larger strides toward methane mitigation over the medium term and beyond. There is an opportunity to share lessons learned from the oil and gas sector in areas including methane measurement and industry collaboration.
