Assam signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tata Education and Development Trusts (TEDT) and the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) to provide high quality and affordable cancer care to the patients in the region. The MoU builds on previous partnerships and operationalizes joint investment of ~$485 million for developing medical infrastructure for cancer patients in the state. Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) introduces the draft Renewable Energy and Net metering (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2024 aimed at improving the forecasting and scheduling of hybrid projects in Kerala. The draft regulation defines hybrid projects as those that combine different sources of renewable energy, such as solar and wind, to generate electricity. Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) issues a decision announcing that installations of rooftop solar photovoltaic systems up to 10 kW in capacity will no longer require a technical feasibility study for approval. The decision, in effect from July 2, 2024 is aimed at accelerating the adoption of rooftop solar in the state. Source: Mercom

Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) announces the Tariff and Other Terms for Supply of Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources and non-fossil fuel based Co-generating Stations (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024 to increase the share of electricity from renewable energy sources and non-fossil fuel-based co-generating stations sourced by the state. The renewable purchase obligation (RPO) for distribution companies has been increased to 29.91 percent for 2024-25 and will go up to 43.33 percent by 2029-30. Industrial Policy & Business Regulations  

Tamil Nadu releases the draft Tamil Nadu Space Industrial Policy 2024, which aims to create employment in the space sector for nearly 10,000 persons in 10 years. The policy also promises a slew of incentives for companies investing in the range of INR 10 crore to INR 300 crore (~$1.2 million-$36.5 million). Rajasthan releases the draft Rajasthan Model Building Regulations, 2024. According to the new draft policy, a developer will be responsible for the maintenance of units sold in their township for seven years. Additionally, townships will only be developed in areas specified by the authorities, and include provisions for water and electricity supply.
