Breaking Point: Measuring Progress In Afghanistan
May 23, 2007
The Office of the Chief of Staff held a Strategy Hour on May 23rd focusing on the Measure of Progress Report on Afghanistan, “Breaking Point.” Drawing from their most recent trip to the country, Seema Patel and Steve Ross of the Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project analyzed the state of Afghanistan’s recovery. The report indicated that positive improvements in human security and livelihoods are materializing too slowly, and therefore Afghans are losing confidence in the recovery process. Seema and Steve discussed what steps the international community can take to turn negative trends around.
