Strategy Report Vol 2, No.16
December 18, 2006
On December 18, the Office of the Chief of Staff hosted a Strategy Hour with Jennifer Cooke from the Africa Program and Post-Conflict Reconstruction's Rick Barton and Liora Danan, who completed a 19-day trip to Nigeria. Over the course of their visit, they met with 115 Nigerian government officials, religious leaders, NGO leaders and other professionals, as well as senior U.S. government representatives. The PCR study looked at how the U.S. government is organized and focused to deal with the issue of religion in conflict-prone settings, including the role of religion in mobilizing conflict, religious leaders’ contributions to peacemaking, and the role of faith-based organizations in humanitarian and development work.
