Tracking Promises: Bangladesh

Analyzing the Impact of Feed the Future Investments in Bangladesh

September 8, 2016

CSIS
Bangladesh’s agricultural growth, food security, and nutrition portfolio is among the largest of Feed the Future’s 19 focus countries. The CSIS Global Food Security Project traveled to Bangladesh in March 2016 to investigate Feed the Future’s technical strategy, its sectoral and geographical distribution of investments, and its coordination efforts within and beyond U.S. programming in the first five years. The team met with key U.S. government officials, USAID implementing partners, donor agencies, Bangladeshi government officials, and representatives of the private sector to gain insights into the innovations, successes, and challenges of Feed the Future in Bangladesh. This report outlines the Bangladeshi country context, profiles the U.S. government response, and addresses a set of key questions related to on-the-ground implementation. It also presents a set of targeted policy recommendations focused on improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of efforts to address food security and nutrition in Bangladesh.
