U.S.-India Economic Ties: Getting Down to Business

The recent spate of high-level meetings between U.S. and Indian officials has brought into focus the gap between strategic and defense cooperation on the one hand and economic cooperation on the other, with the latter falling short of its potential. Concerns about economic, trade, and investment-related issues continue to hold back the relationship, suggesting that existing modes of dialogue are either being underutilized or proving ineffective.
In this month’s edition of the U.S. – India Insight, we examine the current state of bilateral economic relations, and argue that leveraging the Trade Policy Forum could prove to be a smarter and more effective approach to greater economic engagement.
