"A Whole-of-Government Approach for U.S.-India Relations"
June 18, 2013
Attention will soon be focused on the Fourth U.S. – India Strategic Dialogue, to be held on June 24 in New Delhi. It will be the first meeting between Secretary of State John Kerry and External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid. It comes at a time when many close observers of the U.S. – India relationship – in both countries – believe that a fresh impulse to our bilateral ties is needed.
Against a backdrop of an impending US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, tough issues of high-skill immigration, market access for U.S. goods in India, an increase in energy exports and the urgent need for educational resources in India, this year’s Strategic Dialogue presents the two foreign ministers with many challenges, but plenty of opportunity for further steps towards real solutions.
