William Bodie Joins CSIS as Senior Director of Development for National Security
WASHINGTON, October 5, 2022: The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is pleased to announce that William Bodie has joined as senior director of development for national security.
Bodie will work with CSIS's International Security Program as a strategic thought partner for fundraising, growing current opportunities and identifying and cultivating new ones.
“We are very excited to welcome Bill to the CSIS Development Team,” CSIS chief development officer Fredrick Anyanwu said. “His combination of fundraising skills and policy experience will bring a unique perspective to our fundraising operation, and we look forward to supporting his partnership with the International Security Program.”
From previous management and leadership positions for sector leaders, including Northrop Grumman, Parsons, and KBR, Bodie brings extensive government and defense industry experience to CSIS. Most recently, he served as director of development at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA), a nonpartisan policy research institute focused on advancing national security. Prior to joining CSBA, Bodie served as visiting fellow at the Lexington Institute, where he studied economic and security trends in the Middle East. Previously, during his career in government, Bodie served as special assistant to the secretary and director of Air Force communications from 2001 to 2004, as well as senior fellow at the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the National Defense University from 1992 to 1993.
“Bill brings a wealth of experience to CSIS from his time in government, industry, and the research community,” Seth Jones, senior vice president, Harold Brown Chair, and director of the CSIS International Security Program, said. “He will be a tremendous asset.”
Bodie has published numerous articles and reviews, has designed and executed strategic communications campaigns for domestic and international business clients, and has been active in national security and philanthropic organizations, including the board of trustees of the Shakespeare Theatre Company and the advisory board of the Salvation Army’s National Capitol Area Command.
