Nairobi Women's Hospital: supporting survivors of sexual violence

Ret. Adm. Fallon's sub-group came by the Gender-Based Violence Recovery Center at Nairobi's Women's Hospital. Violence against women is a problem in Kenya as it is worldwide, and here at the Center women survivors of rape and domestic violence receive medical care for HIV and psycho-social support. The delegation toured most of the hospital but focused their attention on the Center. As gender issues are quite sensitive here, the visitors -- who include several men -- moved carefully and respectfully through the facility.
