2024 Global Development Forum: Workforce Impacts of the Carbon Transition

April 18, 2024 • 11:15 am – 12:30 pm EDT

The CSIS Project on Prosperity and Development hosted the eighth Global Development Forum in Washington D.C. on April 18, 2024. This forum focused broadly on economic growth, decarbonization, and pressing challenges and opportunities for development.

This panel explored how we can manage workforce transitions to ensure that no one is left behind. The transition to a low-carbon economy has significant implications for the global workforce. As industries shift towards cleaner and more sustainable practices, certain sectors will experience job displacements while others will see a rise in job creation.
