Adopting AI in the Workplace: The EEOC's Approach to Governance
Brought to you by
The Center for Strategic and International Studies is pleased to host Keith Sonderling, Commissioner on the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), for a discussion on AI adoption in the workplace. This event will be livestreamed on May 30, at 2:00 PM ET. Commissioner Sonderling will be joined by Gregory C. Allen, Director of the Wadhwani Center for AI and Advanced Technologies at CSIS.
The integration of AI in the workplace has raised widespread alarm about bias, discrimination, and transparency in sensitive workplace processes like hiring. During this event, Commissioner Sonderling will discuss the EEOC’s initiatives to ensure that AI adoption in the workplace is fair and complies with the civil rights and employment laws. He will also evaluate the potential benefits and risks posed by implementing AI in the workplace and compare global approaches to AI regulation.
As a Commissioner on the EEOC, one of Commissioner Sonderling’s highest priorities is the relationship between AI and employment law. Prior to being confirmed as Commissioner in 2020, he served as the EEOC’s Vice-Chair. Commissioner Sonderling also previously practiced labor and employment law before working at the U.S. Department of Labor.
This event is made possible by general support to CSIS.
