Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for an official summit event of the 2021 Summit for Democracy.

Civil society organizations are on the front lines in the battle for democracy around the world. While authoritarian regimes are consolidating power and working to shut down dissent, CSOs are fighting tirelessly to push back against these efforts and to leverage windows of opportunity to promote democracy when they emerge. The courage of these actors and the importance of their work demands attention and support.

In the leadup to the Summit for Democracy, this event will bring together civil society activists from countries whose governments are not participating in the summit to discuss how the Summit process and deliverables can assist them in their efforts to promote democracy in these challenging environments.

Panelists names will be announced in the coming days. Invited speakers include CSO representatives, senior U.S. Administration officials, and Members of Congress.

This event was made possible through general support to CSIS.
