Argentina's Fight Against Corruption

September 13, 2018 • 10:00 – 11:30 am EDT

The CSIS Americas Program is pleased to host Laura Alonso, Argentina’s Secretary of Public Ethics, Transparency and the Fight against Corruption, in charge of the Anticorruption Office, and chair of this year’s G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group. This year has seen a high-level of international attention being given to corruption issues.  With some of the latest developments in Argentina, the work of the Argentina’s Anti-Corruption Office has never been more crucial.

In a presentation, Ms. Alonso will discuss the work of her office in bolstering transparency and strengthening the institutions of Argentina's public and private sectors. Principal Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank on Strengthening the State, Roberto de Michele, will provide commentary following the presentation.

Ms. Alonso was appointed to her current role by President Mauricio Macri in December 2015. Previously, she served as Member of the House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015 and was the Executive Director of “Poder Ciudadano”, the Argentine chapter of Transparency International.

This event was made possible through support from CSIS.
