Mr. Claver-Carone assumed the presidency of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on October 1, 2020. In this role, he sets the overarching strategy and oversees all initiatives of the Bank, which is a leading source of long-term financing for economic, social, and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This conversation will focus on President Claver-Carone’s takeaways from his first months in office and new priorities for the Bank as the IDB seeks to mitigate the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the region and lay the foundation for recovery and sustainable growth. The conversation will also include the possibility of the IDB receiving a capital increase, the Bank’s role in Central America and the Caribbean, and areas of potential collaboration with the incoming Biden-Harris Administration.

This event was made possible thanks to general support to CSIS.
