Aviation Security in the 21st Century Looking to Future on the 10th Anniversary of ATSA
Rick "Ozzie" Nelson, Director of the CSIS Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Program, cordially invites you to this event.
Following September 11, 2001, securing the commercial aviation system from further attack became a priority for the United States. Two months after 9/11, Congress passed the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA), thereby creating the Transportation Security Administration and ushering in an era of significant advancement in aviation screening technology and policy. However, as aviation screening has evolved, so too have the threats facing the aviation system. Terrorists have repeatedly sought to adapt their methods to foil existing aviation security architecture. As it enters its second decade, TSA must continue to look ahead and improve security measures in order to meet this dynamic threat. As we mark the 10th anniversary of the passage of ATSA, please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies for a half-day conference to examine the technologies and policies that will drive aviation security in the next decade.
