The Banyan Tree Leadership Forum with Wayne Swan, Former Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister of Australia

Wednesday, January 14, 2015 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Second Floor Conference Center, Center for Strategic and International Studies1616 Rhode Island Avenue, NWWashington, DC 20036

The CSIS Pacific Partners Initiative is pleased to host The Hon. Wayne Swan MP, former Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister of Australia. He will discuss the need to promote global economic growth and tackle income inequality, and argue that “if we don’t grow together we will grow apart.”

Mr. Swan was Treasurer of Australia from December 2007 and deputy prime minister from June 2010 until June 2013.  During his time in Parliament, Mr. Swan was involved with reform of the tax and transfer payments system, labor market participation, climate change, and ageing and population policy. In 2014, Mr. Swan released his autobiography The Good Fight: Six Years, two prime ministers and staring down the Great Recession (Allen &Unwin).
