Beyond COP26: First Movers Coalition

November 30, 2021 • 8:30 – 9:00 am EST

The United States has announced the launch of the First Movers Coalition, an initiative to generate momentum for clean energy technologies, at this year’s UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).

The coalition—including a group of +25 companies—aims to commercialize emerging clean energy technologies by 2030. The coalition targets sectors key to global decarbonization efforts, including transportation and heavy industry.

The CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program is very pleased to host Varun Sivaram, Senior Director for Clean Energy & Innovation to the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, for a discussion of this new coalition. Hosted by Joseph Majkut, director of the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program.

Beyond COP26 is an event series examining the most important initiatives and developments from the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). Each event focuses on implications for the future of global climate action as countries move to fulfill their commitments.

This event is made possible by general funding to CSIS and the CSIS Energy Security & Climate Change Program.
