Book Event: 'Divided Isles: Solomon Islands and the China Switch' with Edward Cavanough
Brought to you by
The CSIS Australia Chair cordially invites you to a discussion with author and journalist Edward Cavanough on Divided Isles: Solomon Islands and the China Switch.
In 2019, the Solomon Islands switched diplomatic recognition from Taiwan to the People’s Republic of China (PRC). In the aftermath of the switch, then-Prime Minister Sogavare began to look to the PRC to meet many of the Solomon Islands’ economic and security needs in a way that has concerned many of the Pacific’s traditional partners.
Please join CSIS Senior Fellow Kathryn Paik on Tuesday, June 11 at 4 pm EDT for a discussion with Edward Cavanough on his book Divided Isles: Solomon Islands and the China Switch, which analyzes how and why the switch was made, and what the consequences may be for the Solomon Islands and the region.
CSIS's Australia Chair conducts independent policy research aimed at strengthening U.S.-Australia relations. The Chair is endowed through the generosity of Pratt Industries.
