Today, the income gap that separates developed and developing countries is large and growing. Two-thirds of the population on the African continent remains in poverty despite having received millions of dollars in foreign aid over the past several decades. In his book, Entrepreneurial Solutions for Prosperity in BoP Markets, Eric Kacou identifies what he believes is wrong with how the global community is approaching development in low-income nations in Africa and elsewhere. In his career, Mr. Kacou has become an expert on post-conflict economic reconstruction, competitiveness, and enterprise solutions to poverty. He is currently CEO of Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners (ESP) and has served as head of the Rwanda National Innovation and Competitiveness (RNIC) program as well as managing director at OTF Group. Mr. Kacou's book has received critical acclaim for its discussion of the "Survival Trap" and development through enterprise.
