The CSIS Australia Chair cordially invites you to a virtual Book Event on Mick Ryan’s The War for Ukraine: Strategy and Adaptation Under Fire.

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Moscow initiated the largest conflict in Europe in seven decades. Given its scope and scale, this conflict has had profound implications for how militaries wage war in the 21st century. The first and clearest lesson to be gleaned from it is this: the soundness of a military’s strategy and the nimbleness with which it can adapt to unforeseen circumstances are the two most important factors in deciding victory or defeat. Mick Ryan's new book, The War for Ukraine analyzes the war through these twin lenses of strategy and adaptation, detailing how each army has succeeded or failed to plan for and adapt to this 21st century war.

Please join Dr. Charles Edel, Dr. Eliot Cohen, and Emily Harding for a virtual discussion with Mick Ryan, retired Australian Army major general and non-resident fellow with the CSIS Australia Chair on Tuesday, October 15 at 5 pm EDT/Wednesday, October 16 at 7am for a discussion on his new book: The War for Ukraine: Strategy and Adaptation Under Fire, which explores the lessons military strategists can learn from the Russo-Ukrainian War
