Please join CSIS on July 5 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. ET for the launch of Gregory Poling’s new book, On Dangerous Ground: America’s Century in the South China Sea, evaluating U.S. interests in the world’s most complex and dangerous maritime dispute. Gregory will be joined by Bonnie Glaser and Peter Martin to discuss the intersections of U.S. commitments to freedom of the seas and the evolving alliance network in the Indo-Pacific region.
This moderated discussion will explore the new book’s key findings, including how history should inform U.S. national security policy in one of the most important waterways in the world. Gregory Poling is the director and senior fellow of the Southeast Asia Program and Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative at CSIS. Bonnie Glaser is the director of the Asia Program at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and their moderator is Peter Martin, a defense policy and intelligence reporter for Bloomberg and the author of the book China's Civilian Army: The Making of Wolf Warrior Diplomacy.
This event was made possible through general support to CSIS.
