Botswanas strategy to combat HIV/AIDS
On November 12, the CSIS Task Force on HIV/AIDS hosted a daylongconference on Botswana's strategy to combat HIV/AIDS, featuring keynote speaker President Festus Mogae of Botswana. Throughout the day, experts and officials from the United States and Botswana highlighted Botswana's accomplishments in combating HIV/AIDS, as well as the enduring challenges it confronts, with a view to informing President Bush's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the efforts of other African countries. Newly appointed Global AIDS Coordinator Randall Tobias, Undersecretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky, and Senators Bill Frist, Russell Feingold, Norm Coleman, and Lamar Alexander were among the featured speakers.
