Building Clean Hydrogen Markets
The CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program invites you to a discussion on global efforts to develop a clean hydrogen market.
Hydrogen presents big opportunities for global decarbonization efforts, but the energy carrier faces challenges as both the production and demand for clean hydrogen are in a nascent stage. Recent efforts to develop clean hydrogen markets include hydrogen hubs—or clusters—to support economies of scale as well as the introduction of a “guarantee of origin” mechanism.
Featuring Kirsten Westphal (H2Global), James Bowen (Perth USAsia Center), and Jitendra Roychoudhury (KAPSARC), this event will examine ways to create and connect the supply and demand for clean hydrogen.
Dr. Westphal will highlight the H2Global Foundation's strategies to promote the timely market ramp-up to produce green hydrogen in Europe. Mr. Bowen will outline Australia's efforts to establish multiple hydrogen clusters, and federal efforts to coordinate state-level hydrogen projects, while Mr. Roychoudhury will discuss efforts in Saudi Arabia to develop hydrogen hubs.
