Social media platforms are crucial tools for connection. Despite their role in modern democracies, social media platforms also have the ability to amplify threats to democratic systems, including hate speech and extremist ideologies.

Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for a conversation with the Netherlands’ Minister of Justice and Security, Ms. Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, on the threats posed by extremism to modern democracies and their magnification by social media. This event will begin with a keynote address from Minister Yeşilgöz-Zegerius on the changing dynamics influencing democracy. The event will then move to a panel discussion with Amos Guiora, Professor of Law at the University of Utah, and Emily Harding, Deputy Director and Senior Fellow in the CSIS International Security Program.

This event is made possible through general support.
