Cambodia's 2012 Chairmanship of ASEAN: Priorities and Goals

Please join us as Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H.E. Hor Nam Hong, who is on a visit to Washington, spells out Cambodia goals and priorities for hosting ASEAN in 2012. The deputy prime minister will also talk about the state of U.S.-Cambodia relations and share his views on how these ties could be deepened. 

Deputy Prime Minister Hor Nam Hong has served as minister of foreign affairs since 1998 and previously from 1990-1993.  Earlier he served as a vice minister of foreign affairs and as ambassador to the Soviet Union and France.

Following the deputy prime minister’s speech, Mr. Kao Kimhourn and Mr. Ouch Borith, secretaries of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will answer questions from the audience.

Kao Kim Hourn is secretary of state and adviser to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Previously he held several other appointments representing Cambodia in regional and international organizations and forums including ASEAN and ASEAN +3. He was educated in the United States, and holds a PhD from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Ouch Borich has been adviser to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia since 2009. Prior to this he served in a variety of government posts, including secretary of state and ambassador to the United Nations. He was educated in the former USSR and Cambodia.
